Golleeee Gee: I found this site purely by accident. I recall writing here about ten years ago. I’m glad to see it is still viable. I graduated from 2-engine, Stuttgart, Arkansas, Class 44-B. Flew B-24s with the 15th in Italy.Turned 89 recently. Anybody from that era still around? Would like to hear from some of my classmates. Ah, Aviation Cadet Days,. What memories. Best and proudest time in my life. Cadet class 57-08 Navigator with Weiland,Merideth, Cooper, Lambert et al. went onto KB50′s in the 427th AREFS until 1961, (Earp, Shouse,Pearson,Santos et al) then to SA16s with Md. ANG till 1965. Worked on B25s at Reese AFB in pre-cadets waiting on my class assignment. Enjoyed the highest calibre and closest friends during that educational and rewarding journey. I was proud to serve and thankful for the educational and emotional developement provided from being an Aviation Cadet……”Fitz”

The 325th Fighter Group, World War II Army Air Force, has a unique association with the navy and naval aviation, it sailed on-board the USS Ranger, CV-4 on its way to N. Africa in January, 1943. The 325th, also known as the Checkertail Clan (name given by Axis Sally), will be holding its 67th annual reunion 15-19 August, 2012, in Thousand Oaks, CA. It will coincide with the Wings Over Camarillo air show. I am hoping you can help us find veterans of the Ranger from January 43 so we can extend an invitation to them to join us for our reunion. Attached are press releases with information about the reunion and air show, and a flier about the reunion. A British documentary can be found at http://www.checkertails.org. It includes footage of Army P-40 Warhawks flying off the Ranger and pilot interviews. Additional information can be found on our facebook page under ‘checkertail clan’. Details for the air show can be found at http://www.wingsovercamarillo.com. Please feel free to share this invitation and information with those who can assist.
